The SSC stepper motor control systems are a low cost solution for controlling stepper motors. Among many features, the SSC interfaces include on-board voltage regulation for the interface logic, all buffered I/O lines, input voltage polarity reversal protection, and dedicated mechanical limit sense inputs that the interface uses to stop the motor immediately when a limit has been reached. The interfaces interpret commands sent from a personal computer or embedded controllers serial port to control stepper motors and the systems general purpose digital I/O. Example stepper motor exerciser programs written in QuickBasic and Visual Basic are provided with the systems to help you get started with your application programming. There are 2 SSC stepper motor control systems available to choose from. The SSC3 system utilizes the SSC3 stepper motor control interface circuit board that controls up to three 4-phase unipolar stepper motors in full step or half step mode. The motor drive outputs will provide coil currents up to a maximum of 4.0 amps per phase. Only 1 SSC3 interface circuit board can be controlled per serial port. The SSC3 system is expanded with the use of multiple SSC3 interface circuit boards with each interface having its own dedicated serial port. The SSC1 system can control one SSC1 stepper motor control interface circuit board, or up to a maximum of 16 SSC1 interface circuit boards on a network connected to one serial port. There are 2 versions of SSC1 interface circuit boards that can be used with the SSC1 system. The SSC1U interface circuit board can control one 4-phase unipolar stepper motor in full step or half step mode. The motor drive outputs will provide coil currents up to a maximum of 4.0 amps per phase. The SSC1B interface circuit board can control one 2-phase bipolar or 4-phase unipolar stepper motor in full step, half step, quarter step, or eighth step modes. Motors with coil currents up to a maximum of 1.25 amps can be used with the SSC1B interface. Any combination of SSC1U or SSC1B interface circuit boards can be connected together to form a network of up to 16 SSC1 interface circuit boards. ActiveX controls along with Visual Basic and Visual C++ programming examples that utilize the controls for the SSC1 and SSC3 systems are also provided on the CD that is supplied free of charge upon request with any order.
